Joining CVSRT
The team has over forty members coming from a variety of backgrounds. All give time freely to assist people in need.
Prospective members are expected to be fit and active outdoor people with competent hill skills as appropriate
for a moorland area. You need to be able to operate in all conditions!
If accepted onto the probationary training course, you will undergo a rigourous 9 month training programme, with
a final assessment weekend in September. Once accepted onto the callout list there is still an expectation
to attend regular team training as well as maintainence nights and meetings.
Members are provided with some team equipment such as jackets but most personal kit needs to be provided by members themselves. In addition a yearly subscription to the team is required.
Potential new members should:
- have good teamwork and communication skills
- have sound experience of hillwalking in moorland areas
- have good basic navigation skills
- possess a basic first aid certificate (by the September assessment weekend)
- be able to attend regularly on Tuesday evenings and occasional other days
- live within approximately 30mins of the rescue post at Mytholmroyd
- be prepared for an intensive and demanding (but enjoyable!) probationary training programme
A rescue team is a demanding commitment; if you feel you have the skills and experience required the we would like to hear from you via training@cvsrt.org.uk or via our online application form.
